The Family Wallet iOS app stops on April 1, 2027: back up your recovery phrase now
Deadline: 1 April 2027 (165 days left) After 1 Apr 2027: the Family iOS app is no longer available; Aave Labs says funds stay accessible via account.aave.com. Checked against the official sources below on 18 October 2026.
Aave Labs (which acquired Family through Avara) said on 3 February 2026 that it is winding down the Family iOS app. New users stopped being onboarded on 1 April 2026. Existing users can keep using the app until 1 April 2027; over time the app is reduced to account access and withdrawals. After that date, Aave Labs says users keep full access to their funds through account.aave.com with their existing credentials.
1. The official route
Back up your wallet now: in the Family app, open the wallet menu, choose View Recovery Phrase (see Family's support page), and store it offline. Never paste it into a website.
Keep the credentials you use to sign in to Family; Aave Labs says existing credentials give access to your funds at account.aave.com after the app closes.
Optionally move assets to another wallet you control before the app is reduced to withdrawals only.
2. Things that catch people out
The app is being reduced to "account access and withdrawals" before the final date, so swaps and other features may disappear earlier than 1 April 2027.
Fake "Family migration" sites will appear. Aave Labs only names account.aave.com.
Questions people ask
When does Family Wallet shut down?
Existing users can use the Family iOS app until 1 April 2027. After that, Aave Labs says funds remain accessible through account.aave.com.
Will I lose my crypto when Family closes?
Aave Labs says no: assets stay in your own wallet and you keep access via account.aave.com. Backing up your recovery phrase now is still the safest step.
3. Moving funds onward
If you move funds out of Family to another chain or into USDC, you can request a deposit address below and send to it from Family like a normal transfer. Test a small amount first; sending to your own new wallet is the simplest option.
