Balancer is winding down: pools switch to withdrawals-only on October 30, 2026

Deadline: 30 October 2026 · V3 Vault pauses 30 Nov (12 days left)
After 30 Oct 2026: LP withdrawals remain possible through the pool contracts, but swaps and deposits stop.
Checked against the official sources below on 18 October 2026.

Balancer governance approved BIP-928, an orderly wind-down of the protocol. On 30 October 2026 pausable pools move to withdrawals-only: LPs can still exit, but swaps and new deposits stop. Some partner-requested V3 pools stay live until 30 November 2026, when the V3 Vault pauses. Balancer's bug bounty ends on 30 October. BAL holders don't need to act now; treasury redemptions are expected to open in late May 2027.

1. The official route

  1. In the Balancer app, open your pool positions on each chain, unstake gauge positions if any, and withdraw liquidity. Withdrawals stay available after 30 October, but exiting before is simplest.
  2. If you hold tetuBAL, the plan gives BAL equal to 50% of locked assets; follow the official forum thread.
  3. BAL holders: nothing to do now. The approved plan expects redemptions (burn BAL for a pro-rata share of the treasury) to open in late May 2027.
